Originally purchased by a guard’s officer as a UK RHD car. Transported to Germany where the owner drove the car until its return to the UK in 1987. The car was then sold to the second owner in 1990 in a parlous state. The owner then spent nearly 4 years completely restoring the car. Engine was rebuilt with special pistons a DW8 cam, aluminium cylinder head etc etc. The transmission L line was restored. The chassis, welded and strengthened, aluminium boot, front and rear panels installed and the car was repainted to its original colour of Healey Blue over OEW.
In 2013 the owner was too ill to drive the car and reluctantly sold the car. He wanted the car to go to an engineer enthusiast, hence his reluctance to sell.
In 2018 the car suffered a catastrophic failure of the oil pump. The engine was removed and the damaged crankshaft was reground, the block rebored with new pistons and bearings and rebuilt.
In April 2022 whilst driving home, a dear collided with the front end resulting in the car off the road for 3 months. Insurance agreed the car the be repaired and the difficult job was completed to an extremely professional level, to which I am grateful. The car is in excellent condition and will continue to be used and enjoyed as a true example of a great British sports car. Thank you.
