BL Mini Van

Vehicle Reg No: FVW279Y
Year: 1982

Classic Mini Van, 1982 so now classed as a historic vehicle, it has 9 previous registered owners and has been in my ownership for the past 8 years. In that time there has been a fair bit of restoration work, within a year of owning it I was involved in an accident where an Audi A4 took out the driver’s side. Luckily it was quoted less than 50% of the value of the car at the time to repair it and so was covered by insurance. Then in 2019, it went in for further restoration work to bring the other side and rear of the van, up to the standard of the repair work after the accident. When I bought the van it was blue, but after seeing it with a layer of snow on the roof one year I decided that I wanted it to have a white roof which was done during the restoration work in 2019. I have a folder with photos documenting a lot of the work undertaken, including bits that, I have done myself such as making a custom dashboard and boxing out the rear of the van (all of which can be removed and leave no evidence of being there).

Since owning the van I have enjoyed driving it around the country going on road trips and visiting car shows. In 2017 I drove it from Penzance to Westport in Ireland to attend the international Mini show that year, that was a great trip even though the exhaust fell off when leaving the ferry port in Dubin at midnight…

Then in 2019 (during the end of restoration work) it was trailered up to the international Mini event being held in Bristol that year, in 2021-2023 I took it over to the Isle of Wight for an annual show held by West Country Minis in September. At the end of May, I am driving to Germany for this year’s International Mini event which will be about 800 miles each way…

Unfortunately, I have to reluctantly put the van up for sale this year as it forms the majority of my savings, which I’m hoping to have enough to get onto the property ladder. I’m currently considering the best option to sell the van, looking at either a private sale or using an auction house as the agreed value is around £20k and I’d like to get as close to that as possible.
