Derived from the Sunbeam Talbot 90 convertible, it was initially developed by George Hartwell, a Sunbeam Talbot Dealer in Bournemouth, as a one off rally .car. Hand built by Mulliners coachbuilders of Birmingham some 1192 were produced mainly aimed at the American Market {801 being left hand drive]
Less than 200 survive world wide.
This Rootes Group car was assembled in Ryton-on-Dunsmore with a 2267cc 4 cylinder engine.
It weighs 1315Kg [1 ton 6cwt] unladen with a turning circle of 36feet.
A Sapphire Blue Alpine was driven around Monte Carlo by Grace Kelly in the !955 Alfred Hitchcock film ‘To Catch A Thief’
This Car KSJ 693 is in Coronation Red. This colour was used for one year only to celebrate the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth 11 in 1953.
